Today I'm absurdly excited to be a part of the promotional blog tour for the second installment of Gena Showalter's White Rabbit Chronicles, Through the Zombie Glass. I read Alice in Zombieland last year and absolutely adored it, and I may or may not have fallen madly in love with romantic lead Cole. Okay, there's really no "may not" about it, I love him. Utterly. Completely. My job here today is to list 5 reasons why I harbor such intense feelings for him and, in doing so, hopefully show those of you who have yet to meet him the error of your ways ;-)
Before I thoroughly embarrass myself with my lovesick ramblings and general fangirling over Cole though, I want to mention that the girls of Kismet Book Touring have put together a phenomenal tour for this book with AMAZING grand prize and daily giveaways, so be sure and check the bottom of this post for full blog tour schedule as well as all the details on the giveaways.
And now, let's talk about Cole.
MY 5 REASONS WHY COLE IS SO SWOON-WORTHY
- The Hotness Factor - I'm starting with this one because it's the most obvious. Who doesn't enjoy crushing on someone who makes forming coherent sentences in their presence nearly impossible? Though I've of course never been in Cole's presence, I imagine if he were real my mouth would betray me by failing to form words at the most opportune of moments. Maybe he's attracted to drooling, sputtering women though? There's been no evidence of that in the books since Ali is strong and stunning and a fighter through and through, but I'm not giving up hope that he finds reduced mental faculties and severe social impediments to be turn-ons.
- Ink - Not everyone finds tattoos sexy, but I'm 100% in favor of them. Especially on someone like Cole who has an edge to him that lets you know in no uncertain terms that his life is an extremely rocky road, and the woman who wants to partner with him to walk it will have to be in possession of some serious skills and mental fortitude. *straps on hiking boots, packs bag and compass, and sets off to find Cole*
- Fighting Prowess - There's something inherently attractive about a man with the skill set to protect those who aren't able to do so themselves. Cole is more than proficient in hand to hand combat and is adept with numerous weapons, and though he can certainly be aggressive when the situation calls for it, he's not the type who seeks out a fight just for the sake of fighting. He trains to battle a very specific and terrifying enemy, never picking fights out of a need to stroke his ego or prove himself to be better than someone else.
- Intensity - Cole might be someone to whom many attach the label "bad boy", and while in many ways it's a fitting label as he can be dark and dangerous, I think intense is a better way to describe him. He's utterly focused on taking down his enemy and keeping those around him alive, and while he does have a history of being with girls and then abruptly moving on with little to no warning, he's not the type to play games of the heart.
- Loneliness - This probably seems like a weird attribute to put on this list, but there's something about a man who seems a bit apart from the rest of the world that I find appealing. I often suffer from the delusion of thinking I'll be the unique person who becomes the touchstone that grounds an alpha male like Cole or fills the void no one else before me has been able to fill, and like a moth to the flame that loneliness and tiny hint of vulnerability sucks me in every time. Cole, despite being surrounded by people, is still so very separate, making me want to do nothing more than wrap him up in my arms and not let go. Lucky Ali that she gets to do so. *stares daggers at Ali* ;-)

THROUGH THE ZOMBIE GLASS
Inspired by the childhood classic Alice in Wonderland, this harrowing and romantic story features teen zombie slayer Alice Bell who has lost so much—family, friends, her home.
After a strange new zombie attack, Alice fears she may be losing her mind as well. A terrible darkness blooms inside her, urging her to do wicked things.
The whispers of the dead assault her ears and mirrors seem to come frighteningly to life. She’s never needed her team of zombie slayers more—including her boyfriend, Cole—than she does now. But as Cole strangely withdraws and the zombies gain new strength, Ali knows one false step may doom them all.

First, welcome back Jenny!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd ... OMG - yes you couldn't have said it any better. Cole is one of my favorite Book Boyfreinds because he has it all.
And yep, just like you I love the INK! And .. then thinking about what they mean for Cole makes him even more swoon worthy!
I would add the way he loves - but it could be a subpart of Intensity. The way he loves Ali is intense and perfect and just the way he loves his whole family and friends is outstanding!
Thanks my friend! I missed you:)
DeleteI had a hard time making this list, there were so many things I wanted to talk about with Cole, but some of them digressed into things not appropriate for a YA blog ;-)
I love the way he loves Ali, even if I did want to smack him in this book, but Ali I thought was amazing in how she dealt with everything:)
The books sounds so cool :D
ReplyDeleteIT IS!!! Loved it:)
DeleteI haven't read this series yet, mostly because I'm not an Alice in Wonderland fan, but you've already made me swoon with thoughts of Cole, Jenny. I love a guy who has that veneer of vulnerability and who doesn't want a hot male love interest? ;) Fantastic post, dear!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not an Alice in Wonderland fan either Keertana, but I loved this book. It's more loosely based on Alice in Wonderland I'd say, it's not a retelling:) And there's Cole, which is a WIN.
DeleteI have read the first book and while I wasn't such a huge fan of the story and main character - Cole is something worth remembering. I love your points and I'm tempted to read the sequel just to see more of him. Great post Jenny :)
ReplyDeleteCole is definitely memorable isn't he? Love him Tanja!
DeleteI'm all over tats on guys. They are just so sexy! I don't know why...maybe it's my deeply-buried good Catholic girl who gets all squee-ish about them. *shrugs* Whatever. Send more my way, please!
ReplyDeleteAGREED MARY! Kevin has one on his shoulder blade, but I keep trying to get him to agree to more. Like a giant one that wraps around his shoulder and down his arm a little and he's all "No". Dammit.
DeleteOhhh....Cole sounds fantastic. I am definitely intrigued and loved your reasons. I will have to add this book to my TBR list. It's good to have you back!!
ReplyDeleteHe's delicious Christina! He can be a typical boy sometimes and do things that make you smack your head on a desk, but he always makes up for it:)
DeleteCole is definitely someone I need to read! I have been meaning to start book one and just haven't gotten around to it yet. I am going to try to squeeze it in over the month of October!
ReplyDeleteYES ALI, YOU MUST MEET HIM! This is just a really fun series, I so enjoy it:)
DeleteCole is yes, swoon. I need to load up on a ton of weapons!!
ReplyDeleteYES! Who can resist a hot lonely guy? I know I can't. LOL
ReplyDeleteI would kick butt and take names
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can wait for my library to get through the zombie glass, oh man I would love to win.
ReplyDeleteCole is just swoon worthy with all his sweltering hotness!
ReplyDeleteI think the bad boy with tattoo speaks for itself.. Totally swoon worthy. Love me some tattoos. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd get a good weapon and find a place to hide! Thanks for the chance to win! So excited to read this!
ReplyDeleteTo answer the question in the Rafflecopter... I'm not sure I WOULD survive in Alice's world through that zombieglass!! Yikes!! I like to think I'm tough, but good gracious, I would totally want to just lay down and give up after some (not much) time trying to fight to stay alive! It's all exhausting to me to think about. On the other hand, if my son was also with me... I would do everything in my power to keep us going :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the black sheep in this, but I didn't like Cole in the first book. That being said, those are very attractive qualities that were mentioned in the guest post. I especially find loneliness an attractive quality although that is a bit strange.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Jenny and it's good to have you back! :)
I'd carry a self charging lantern and my hatchet.
ReplyDeleteThe most swoon worthy thing about Cole is how dedicated he is! And to survive I would learn how to fight. Maybe Cole can teach me? ;)
ReplyDeleteI, myself haven't started this series. *sighs* but one of the books coming to me and one on my Kindle so I think I'm all set up... How would I survive in Alice's world even though I haven't read it, I would love to be like an kick-ass Assassin if that ever existed. Hehe! Thanks for the giveaway and its lovely to have you back. Love all your photos. I would have loved to do that. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to tell you this.... but I'm the woman that will be by Cole's side. He will protect me, use some hands on methods to train me, and obviously fall madly in love with me. Sorry Alice. Betty is officially in Zombieland.
ReplyDeleteGreat post-- <3
I have been waiting for this book for soooo long. Cole is all the man I need and I feel bad cause I'm not a teen but who care I can do some cradle robbing.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to kid myself, I probably wont survive but probably having Cole around and a shotgun with lots of ammo might help!
ReplyDeleteStealth and stamina. Never let them see you coming is always a good rule.
ReplyDeleteI'd pack a Cole or two around with me. Just in case.
ReplyDelete***entered as Rachelle***
I loved book one and cannot wait to jump back in, as far as surviving, why I will use all of the skills I learned from books!!
ReplyDeleteI would join Cole's team and learn to fight!
ReplyDeleteI would join Cole's team and learn to fight!
ReplyDeleteI would fight!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you convinced me... I'll take a Cole for my own. Just remember to make him age appropriate. LOL
ReplyDeleteI would so join Jenny's team to survive. She would take pity on me. :)
Love Cole!! Can't wait to read him again in Through the Zombie Glass. I would train on using crossbows.
ReplyDeleteI haven't met him yet, but I'm sure looking forward to finding out! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet him! I wasn't sure about this series but your love of it has me thinking I need to give it a try! I have the second book but I haven't got the first one yet.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I would be as lucky as Ali and with friends at my back, a little luck and training to make my mad skills even better I would survive and thrive.
ReplyDeletewith a sword
ReplyDeleteI love Cole! I cannot wait to read more about him!
ReplyDeleteI would totally take lessons from him. Maybe pretend I'm not catching on just so I can spend more time with him. Also, learn how to run really fast.
Stock up some weapons and find the high ground!
ReplyDeleteExcellent reasoning on why, if Cole should appear on your doorstep, K. should step aside and let you follow your book crush into the battle, promising to return when the danger is over. Can you give us a rundown on that conversation because I'd really like to be a fly on the wall for that one. LOL You make such a fabulous argument for why we should love Cole, you'd think you were willing to share him with us, but we know better!
ReplyDeleteHow would I survive in the world of Alice in Zombieland? I'm pretty sure I'd hide under the bed or lock myself in the closet until the danger is gone. I would not be Ali at all. Even with Cole and friends. I am a big chicken. That's why my zombies live in books!
I would say his hotness gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd do well :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHis Fighting Prowess.
ReplyDeleteI would not survive well, so that would be a definite plus as well.
Stick with Alice, Cole, and the gang. If things get tough, at least I know I have them backing me up.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about Cole, he is practically irresistible and so very INTENSE! Plus, those tattoos definitely work in his favor. I loved that he was a bad boy at first, but then he proved that he can be focused and dedicated when he needs to be.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read Through the Zombie Glass.
I would find a group of slayers, preferably one with Cole in it (; And I would definitely have some weapons skills training, preferably with guns or a crossbow!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd have a very difficult time. Hiding would be one strategy and finding trustworthy friends would help too. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDelete"Maybe he's attracted to drooling, sputtering women though?" <---HAHA dies! Yes, this is pretty much my only hope if ever meet any of the fictional men I lust over. Because that is all they will see. :-) I'm totally with you on the ink and the loners, somehow those are attractive qualities, and add them together.....swoon! Love this list Jenny, you've certainly made me do a Cole double take now. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'd probably just rely on my wit--and try desperately to find a way out! :P
ReplyDeleteI would make sure I had some pretty good fighting skills and would never go anywhere without some kind of weapon : )
ReplyDeleteA crossbow, machete, a gun or two and being able to outrun the person next to me is how I'd survive!
ReplyDeleteI survive with Cole and the gang at my back, on my side, armed to the teeth.
ReplyDeleteTo survive Alice's world, I would need Cole, a few other zombie slayers, a crossbow, fire, machete, and some Twinkies! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!!
I would need to get a weapon and learn how to use it.
ReplyDeleteGood question! Very carefully!! I would just make sure to have as many people with me at all times. I'm so excited about book 2!!! I CANNOT wait to read it!! Thank you so much for this amazing and generous giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI would survive by fighting!
