Waiting on Wednesday + Giveaway: Shudder

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

Stitch Trilogy #2
Samantha Durante
Young Adult/Dystopian
Self-published
Releases June 15th

THE STORY
It’s only been three days, and already everything is different.

Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa’s life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she’d counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she’d thought she’d tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she’s discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.

And then there are the visions.

The memory-altering “stitch” unlocked something in Alessa’s mind, and now she can’t shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers – and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world’s sorry history – will soon leave Alessa reeling…

Confession: I haven't read the first book in this series, but it's on my list and I'm really excited about it. I figured since the first book in the series is already out it doesn't really qualify for Waiting on Wednesday, but Shudder releases next month and fits the bill perfectly. Based on the blurb, it sounds like my waiting to pick up book one until book two is out was a good idea, with this "wrenching twist of fate" making me super nervous, and I think it's just better for my mental health to have both books on hand before digging into this series:)

Samantha has generously offered up a print ARC of Shudder to one lucky winner, to enter just fill out the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway is international, good luck everyone and thank you Samantha!

  12. I entered the contest because I couldn't help myself (I hadn't even heard of this series yet), but I hear you about having book two before you start book one. Sometimes, it's the only way to read.

  14. I've seen book one around on a few blogs and am definitely curious about this series. It sounds like you had the right idea, waiting to read both at once—it sucks to have to agonize over "wrenching twists of fate" in between books. Great WoW pick, thanks for sharing! :-)

  17. "Superhuman creatures thirsting for blood" does not sound good at all, Jenny! I would have waited for book 2 because book 1 sounds like it ended in a huge cliffhanger.

  18. I think it could still qualify for WoW. I mean you don't have that first one yet... so you are waiting on it, right? :D I also need to read that first one and am very curious. Guess I'll add this one to my wishlist right after Stitch. :D
