THE STORY
It’s only been three days, and already everything is different.
Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa’s life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she’d counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she’d thought she’d tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she’s discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.
And then there are the visions.
The memory-altering “stitch” unlocked something in Alessa’s mind, and now she can’t shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers – and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world’s sorry history – will soon leave Alessa reeling…
Confession: I haven't read the first book in this series, but it's on my list and I'm really excited about it. I figured since the first book in the series is already out it doesn't really qualify for Waiting on Wednesday, but Shudder releases next month and fits the bill perfectly. Based on the blurb, it sounds like my waiting to pick up book one until book two is out was a good idea, with this "wrenching twist of fate" making me super nervous, and I think it's just better for my mental health to have both books on hand before digging into this series:)
Samantha has generously offered up a print ARC of Shudder to one lucky winner, to enter just fill out the Rafflecopter form below. This giveaway is international, good luck everyone and thank you Samantha!

I'm not familiar with this series but what a stunning cover.
ReplyDeleteWhat have I missed?!?!? Seriously…
ReplyDeleteBut.. it's Dystopia… and you know how I feel about this these days..
Oh pooh, I'd love to enter, but I so must read book 2 first
ReplyDeleteNice! Don't think I know this series but have been seeing a lot of it lately!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Great Give-away. I'e wanted to read these books for so long and if I get book 2 I'll have an excuse to pick up book 1 :D
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this book or series, so I'll have to check it out. Thanks for putting it on my radar, Jenny! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I really have never heard of this...ever...but that's one creeptastic cover! I'm such a cover slut that I'd probably read it based on that alone.
ReplyDelete*stares*
ReplyDeleteThat cover is spectacular.
*stares more*
Seriously - is it sparkling?! It's gorgeous!
And there's a good plot behind the gorgeous cover? Sounds awesome!
I have heard some good things about this series and I really want to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Thanks so much for the cover compliments, everyone! I'm SUPER excited for the release. :-) Good luck in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the first book yet, but this series has great covers. I love them! Lovely choice, Jenny! :-)
ReplyDeleteI entered the contest because I couldn't help myself (I hadn't even heard of this series yet), but I hear you about having book two before you start book one. Sometimes, it's the only way to read.
ReplyDeleteConfession: I haven't read the first book in this series either and it hasn't been on my neverending list... until now. You do that a lot. *glares at Jenny*
ReplyDeleteI AM very curious, but I'll wait for your review, and then I'll pick it up. :)
I've seen book one around on a few blogs and am definitely curious about this series. It sounds like you had the right idea, waiting to read both at once—it sucks to have to agonize over "wrenching twists of fate" in between books. Great WoW pick, thanks for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteOOOH, NICE cover (especially well done for a self-pub, which makes it EVEN BETTER!) and intriguing concept. Might have to check out the first one...
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's necessary to say that I haven't read the first book int this series. Yes I remember when everyone was reading it and I was just sitting there doing nothing. Hah! I hope you'll get to read this one soon! :)
ReplyDelete"Superhuman creatures thirsting for blood" does not sound good at all, Jenny! I would have waited for book 2 because book 1 sounds like it ended in a huge cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteI think it could still qualify for WoW. I mean you don't have that first one yet... so you are waiting on it, right? :D I also need to read that first one and am very curious. Guess I'll add this one to my wishlist right after Stitch. :D
ReplyDeleteI think my initial impression was how eye catching the cover was! If I were in a book store that alone would persuade me to buy it!
ReplyDeleteI've heard some good things about the first one. I hope you love it when you are able to give it a read!
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK! THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY! SHELLEY S. calicolady60@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteLove the cover for this one but looks like I'll need to catch up with the first book before coveting it. Nice giveaway!
