Waiting on Wednesday: The Queen of Zombie Hearts

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

White Rabbit Chronicles #3
Gena Showalter
Releases September 30th from HarlequinTEEN

From Goodreads:

I have a plan.

We'll either destroy them for good, or they'll destroy us.

Either way, only one of us is walking away.

Alice 'Ali' Bell thinks the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with boyfriend Cole Holland, the leader of the zombie slayers; until Anima Industries, the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, killing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous than monsters; and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discovers she, too, can control the zombies and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's connected to the woman responsible for killing–and turning– Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken or killed, Ali will fight harder than ever to bring down Anima–even sacrificing her own life for those she loves.

Ummmmm Cole. That's really the only word that makes it out of my mouth when I think about series because, bless her, Gena Showalter knows how to write some very sexy men. Even when they're YA men. (But in my head Cole is at least 28 so I don't feel so creepy.) I've loved both books in this series, so I have some very high hopes going into this final installment. As long as Cole and Ali don't die (which seems to be an unfortunate trend of late and I admit to being slightly nervous thanks to the last line of the synopsis), I have no doubt I'll be in love with this one as well. Plus, Cole. That is all.

    1. I can't even explain in words what will happen if Cole or Ali dies. Seriously. Obviously I'll be flipping straight to the back immediately before I read to see what awaits me:)

  3. Haha "But in my head Cole is at least 28 so I don't feel so creepy." I tell myself that about SO many characters in YA. I am so behind in this series and I need to catch up! :-)

    1. Hehe me too! Four? Definitely Theo James's age in my head before it was a movie. I couldn't have been happier when they cast someone a bit older!!!!

    1. I always love binge reading a series. Especially trilogies that are long enough to make sure I'm fully invested, but don't have so many books that I'm intimidated to start them. I adore these books, I hope you like them too Pili!

    1. Cole IS fabulous. Except for a few moments in book 2 when I wanted to smack him. But Ali handled herself perfectly and let him know what was what:)

  7. So, have you begged for this one yet? And I always make the YA guys who I like older in my brain so I don't feel like such a perv. It's really the only way.

    1. I may have yes :) And all YA guys are automatically 27-28 in my head. I have to read that way or I creep myself out.

  8. I always age-up the YA lads, too, haha. Glad I am not alone. I haven't read this series, Jenny. Thanks for putting it on my radar.

  9. There were a few moments in Through the Zombie Glass that frustrated me, but I loved how Ali handled everything and I can't wait to see what a badass she's become in this last book!

  11. I might have to pick this series up now that all the books are going to be out. I have the first book but I've been hesitant lately about starting a series when the books aren't all released. Great choice, Jenny! :)

  17. NOOOOOO Don't kill COLE! I would NOT be happy if that happened. But this doesn't seem like that kind of series to me. Or it better not be…these covers are pretty wacky, but I cannot wait to get inside and find out what happens in this final installment. I NEEEDDDDDD to obtain a copy of this book asap. GREAT PICK.
