Waiting on Wednesday: Cold Burn of Magic

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

Black Blade #1
Jennifer Estep
Paranormal Young Adult
Releases April 28th, 2015 from K-Teen

From Goodreads:

THERE BE MONSTERS HERE…

It’s not as great as you’d think, living in a tourist town that’s known as “the most magical place in America.” Same boring high school, just twice as many monsters under the bridges and rival Families killing each other for power.

I try to keep out of it. I’ve got my mom’s bloodiron sword and my slightly illegal home in the basement of the municipal library. And a couple of Talents I try to keep quiet, including very light fingers and a way with a lock pick.

But then some nasty characters bring their Family feud into my friend’s pawn shop, and I have to make a call—get involved, or watch a cute guy die because I didn’t. I guess I made the wrong choice, because now I’m stuck putting everything on the line for Devon Sinclair. My mom was murdered because of the Families, and it looks like I’m going to end up just like her…

I think most of you know by now that Jennifer Estep is an auto-buy author for me, so it's pretty much a given that any book of hers will be on my must-have list. I adored her previous YA series, Mythos Academy, and was quite sad to say goodbye to Gwen, Logan and company earlier this year when the final book released. Imagine my joy however when she announced the first book in this new series! Yes to a girl with dubious talents who makes the decision to save a cute boy. I can't wait to meet Lila!

  14. I feel like this book was written to protect me from raging fans of Estep. I keep meaning to pick up a book of hers but the lengthy series intimidate me so I have no excuse not to read this as it's the start of a new series. Yay! I can't wait to join all the Estep fans and dearly hope I love this. :)

  18. This one sounds verrry interesting! I'm not a huge fan of the cover, but I've heard great things about Estep's work. Great pick, Jenny!

  19. I can recall you and quite a few other bloggers really digging the Mythos Academy books! And they definitely sound like something I would have fun with too. So it's really cool that the author has another YA paranormal series coming out and will hopefully feature another heroine who is as likeable as Gwen seems to be!
