Inspired by Top Ten Tuesday from The Broke and The Bookish, Super Six Sunday, a new feature from the fabulous ladies at Bewitched Bookworms, has different book-related topics each week and asks participants to address each topic in the form of a list of six. Obviously.
This week, the focus is on summery book covers, but since I tend to gravitate toward darker, grittier books, I decided to split up my six covers into two categories: covers that are bright and colorful and have a summertime feel even if they didn't release during summer and aren't necessarily the quintessential beach vacation read, and then covers that are a bit heavier and feel more appropriate for the wind and chill of fall or winter. Way to not at all adhere to the prompt Jenny! *takes a bow* Hope you enjoy the covers anyway:

NANTUCKET BLUE
Leila Howland
From Goodreads:
For Cricket Thompson, a summer like this one will change everything. A summer spent on Nantucket with her best friend, Jules Clayton, and the indomitable Clayton family. A summer when she’ll make the almost unattainable Jay Logan hers. A summer to surpass all dreams.
Some of this turns out to be true. Some of it doesn’t.
When Jules and her family suffer a devastating tragedy that forces the girls apart, Jules becomes a stranger whom Cricket wonders whether she ever really knew. And instead of lying on the beach working on her caramel-colored tan, Cricket is making beds and cleaning bathrooms to support herself in paradise for the summer.
But it’s the things Cricket hadn’t counted on--most of all, falling hard for someone who should be completely off-limits--that turn her dreams into an exhilarating, bittersweet reality.
A beautiful future is within her grasp, and Cricket must find the grace to embrace it. If she does, her life could be the perfect shade of Nantucket blue.

From Amazon:
Stephen is used to invisibility. He was born that way. Invisible. Cursed.
Elizabeth
sometimes wishes for invisibility. When you’re invisible, no one can
hurt you. So when her mother decides to move the family to New York
City, Elizabeth is thrilled. It’s easy to blend in there.
Then Stephen and Elizabeth meet. To Stephen’s amazement, she can see him. And to Elizabeth’s amazement, she wants him to be able to see her—all of her. But as the two become closer, an invisible world gets in their way—a world of grudges and misfortunes, spells and curses. And once they’re thrust into this world, Elizabeth and Stephen must decide how deep they’re going to go—because the answer could mean the difference between love and death.

From Goodreads:
Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.
It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").
But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.
Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.
* I will say I'm not in love with the grass in the foreground, it looks out of place to me, but I adore the handwritten font and the background. If I could, I would crop this image right above their ankles and call this one a winner!

April Genevieve Tucholke
From Goodreads:
You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…
Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery...who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.
Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch.
CRASH INTO YOU
Katie McGarry
From Goodreads:
The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.
Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.
But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.
Leigh Bardugo
From Goodreads:
In Ravka, just because you avoid one trap, it doesn't mean you'll escape the next. This story is a companion folk tale to Leigh Bardugo’s upcoming novel, Siege and Storm, the second book in the Grisha Trilogy.
If you hadn't noticed, I'm a big fan of covers that feature type prominently, making it bold and important and as much a focus as the image that accompanies it (with the exception of The Too Clever Fox, that cover is all about the stunning illustration). What do you guys think of the covers?
the cover whore in me is loving all the covers you choose!! For some reason The Too Clever Fox has slipped under my radar and I love Bardugo so that is just unacceptable of me!
ReplyDeleteIt slipped under mine too! I just saw it on the sidebar on Goodreads when I was looking for something else and then I started flailing. Can't wait to read it!
DeleteOoo, I love Crash Into You's cover! The red just pops!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it awesome? Definitely my favorite of the series thus far:)
DeleteIt depends on my mood, sometimes I like light, sometimes dark. A cover I like one day I pass over the next but today, totally the dark Tucholke
ReplyDeleteSame. Overall though I'd say I tend to pick up dark and dramatic covers more than light ones, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment in the books I read!
DeleteNantucket Blue has a really summery cover. I haven't read it yet but I have heard great things about it. Also I love the cover for Between the Devil and Deep Blue Sea! :) I can't wait to read the book. Great covers Jenny :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard the same, it's definitely going to be coming with me on vacation:) I need BtDatDPS immediately, I'm absurdly excited for that book!
DeleteOoO I love the covers you choose and .. I admit, I also had some troubles finding Summer covers :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that you included Crash Into You because I think its the best cover in the series so far! I love the angle and I love the read car!!
Oh and .. the Too Clever Fox cover is made of win!!! Totally awesome!
Of course Nantucket Blue is on my list too as it's just made of summer perfection :)
I LOVE the Crash Into You cover! It's just so visually interesting and I love how the title is incorporated into the image:) And I need to read The Too Clever Fox and Nantucket Blue!
DeleteI love love the cover to Meant to be Summer, the colours are gorgeous, and I love how you can see glimpses of London in the back. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is another favourite of mine, the way the title and cover go well so together, I love it! And how it comes across so creepy! Thanks for sharing another great post with us Jenny, I still need to read a lot of these books! :(
ReplyDeleteI love the background of Meant to Be, so so so pretty. And unusual which I think really makes it stand out:) I am giving myself an ulcer waiting for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, I need it in my hands now!
DeleteI love all of these covers, especially the summer feel of them. Great selections, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keertana! I'm mildly obsessed with book covers:)
DeleteLove all of these covers, especially Nantucket Blue and Meant to Be! Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is pretty fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Nantucket Blue, it's calling to me:)
DeleteCrash into Me!!!!!!! Meant To Be is a fantastic summer cover -- those colors are to die for. Love the variety of covers you picked!
ReplyDeleteCan it be time for Crash Into Me to release? That would be really great:) I need my Katie McGarry fix!
DeleteI LOVE the cover for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! AND I am SO, SO EXCITED for the release! It sounds amazing. ^^
ReplyDeleteME TOO RENU!!!! That's at the top of my "most anticipated" list for the remainder of the year along with Crash Into Me:)
Deletethose all look beautiful. Yes a cover brings me to look at book. #coverwhore
ReplyDelete#CoverWhoreRightAlongWithYou
DeleteCrash into Me and Meant to be have such nice ,bright and fun covers :)
ReplyDeleteDevil and The Deep Blue Sea has an AHMAZING cover
Doesn't it? It might be my favorite cover ever. I just love the typeface:)
DeleteOooooo they're all so good.
ReplyDeleteAwesome list and I loved how you described them. I am looking forward to reading Crash into Me.
ReplyDeleteI love your picks, Jenny! Making 3 summery and light and 3 dark and intense is a lovely contrast. Nantucket Blue is my favorite light summery cover, I just love it! I loved the book, too so that might have swayed my decision. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the cover of Crash Into You!! That red car in the color of passion and fire (yes, I'm a bit dramatic today), I can't wait to get my hands on that read.
I'm such a cover whore so thanks for this post! :)
Ohhhh the Too Clever Fox cover is SO COOL. Definitely gonna add that to my TBR list now!
ReplyDeleteI love how you sectioned these off into the lighter and darker covers. Those dark covers definitely remind me more of the fall/winter. It was definitely hard to find 6 covers that were summery, so I don't blame you for doing a bit of both!
Julia @ That Hapa Chick
The Too Clever Fox is a novella right? I've heard a lot of good things for Leigh Bardugo's works. I need to start reading that series soon. I'm really way behind my reading *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI was not a fan of Meant to Be, mostly because there were far too many misunderstandings between them and I failed to see the attraction. But I'm determined to read Nantucket Blue. I think I might have better luck with that one.
ReplyDeleteAnd Crash Into You DOES have a gorgeous cover. I'm not a McGarry fangirl, not by a long shot, but I'll definitely read it.
Love these covers! I can not wait for Crash Into You.
ReplyDeleteJenny certainly very different to the ones that I've seen in this week's meme, unique ;) Love it!
ReplyDeleteSuper Six Sunday
I love the cover for BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA - I feel like it could be a movie poster, or something. So eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteGreat post :)
I'm with you, I love covers that have prominent gorgeous typeface! These are all lovely, though I think Nantucket Blue and Meant to Be are my favorites, if I had to choose. :-) Thanks for sharing! #alsoamajorcoverwhore
ReplyDeleteLove them all (especially Nantucket Blue for summer) but my favorite is Between the Devil-I'm normally a fan of pretty dresses but the font of this is just so gorgeous!
