Waiting on Wednesday: Hidden Huntress

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

The Malediction Trilogy #2
Danielle L. Jensen
Young Adult/Fantasy
Releases from Angry Robot on June 2nd

From Danielle's website:

Beneath the mountain, the king’s reign of tyranny is absolute; the one troll with the capacity to challenge him is imprisoned for treason. Cécile has escaped the darkness of Trollus, but she learns all too quickly that she is not beyond the reach of the king’s power. Or his manipulation.

Recovered from her injuries, she now lives with her mother in Trianon and graces the opera stage every night. But by day she searches for the witch who has eluded the trolls for five hundred years. Whether she succeeds or fails, the costs to those she cares about will be high.

To find Anushka, she must delve into magic that is both dark and deadly. But the witch is a clever creature. And Cécile might not just be the hunter. She might also be the hunted…

I absolutely LOVED last year's Stolen Songbird, and nearly had a heart attack when then-publisher Strange Chemistry went under, leaving the future of this series somewhat up in the air. I couldn't have been more excited a little while later when Angry Robot picked it up, and I simply can't wait to get back into this world. I'm a little nervous at the lack of Tristan in the synopsis as he was a highlight of the first book for me, but I have little doubt this second installment will suck me in just as the first did. I'm ready for it to be June!

  1. Ohhhhh look at that dress! *swoon* I just bought the first book since it's cheap right now. I kind of want to hold off and wait until I can read all the books close together, but I'm kind of itching to read SS now.

  11. I love the cover of this one and even though I wasn't a fan of STOLEN SONGBIRD, I know a looot of readers were and I'm hoping this is a strong sequel. Perhaps if it is I'll return to this series after all--those covers are seriously just too beautiful. Great pick this week, Jenny! :)

  16. Gahhh isn't the cover so very pretty?!?!? I do prefer the cover for book 1 (I am partial to the covers used :P) but this one definitely gives the cover for book 1 a run for it's money! :DD

I may not have been the biggest fan of Stolen Songbird but I did enjoy the book and am definitely looking forward to Cecile and Tristan's journey! :D

    Great pick! :)

  20. Ohh same! I was so worried for all the authors with Strange Chemistry as I had come to grow fond of many of them and their series... now Stolen Songbird is one that I have not read yet, but I really want to upon hearing such good things! It's such a relief to hear that when I do eventually pick it up, I won't be left hanging for the next book. Oh, and this cover is pretty!!

  22. I think I would've felt a panic too if I was invested in a series and the publishing house that put the story out went under! Nice that another picked this one up! Hope you love it, Jenny. I haven't yet become aquatinted with the series but it sounds like a promising one. :)
