Kristen Simmons
Young Adult/Dystopian-ish
Releases September 20th from Tor Teen
From Goodreads:
Metaltown, where factories rule, food is scarce, and hope is in short supply.
The rules of Metaltown are simple: Work hard, keep your head down, and watch your back. You look out for number one, and no one knows that better than Ty. She’s been surviving on the factory line as long as she can remember. But now Ty has Colin. She’s no longer alone; it’s the two of them against the world. That’s something even a town this brutal can’t take away from her. Until it does.
Lena’s future depends on her family’s factory, a beast that demands a ruthless master, and Lena is prepared to be as ruthless as it takes if it means finally proving herself to her father. But when a chance encounter with Colin, a dreamer despite his circumstances, exposes Lena to the consequences of her actions, she’ll risk everything to do what’s right.
In Lena, Ty sees an heiress with a chip on her shoulder. Colin sees something more. In a world of disease and war, tragedy and betrayal, allies and enemies, all three of them must learn that challenging what they thought was true can change all the rules.
First, that cover! It's all gritty and gorgeous and metal-y, and I need it in my hands immediately. Second, Kristen Simmons. I adored her Article 5 series, though I have to admit to being a tiny bit nervous because she does brutal really well and is skilled in the art of ripping out readers' hearts and stomping on them before making things better in the end. *stocks up on chocolate* I'm curious as to the dynamic between Ty, Colin and Lena as well, it sounds like it's going to be far more complicated than a triangle between two girls and one guy (if there's a triangle at all), and I can't wait to see how everything unfolds between them!
Triangle, sigh, but still sounds good
ReplyDeleteIt's possible there won't be a triangle at all, I'm holding out hope:) Everything else sounds outstanding!
DeleteI've only read Glass Arrow and I loved it. I definitely have this one on my TBR. This cover is sooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Glass Arrow! I highly recommend her Article 5 series too:)
DeleteNice! I still need to read The Glass Arrow to see if I like this author! Hope you enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
You must give her a try Jessica!
DeleteYesss, I'm pretty excited for this one! (and I've heard it might be at BEA, so YAAAAAY!!) ;)
ReplyDeleteI HEARD THAT TOO PILI!!!! I will be in that line for sure:)
DeleteI have never read anything by this author, but it sounds like a promising dystopian/sci-fi novel. Thanks for putting this one on my radar. That cover is pretty fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I want a copy of it on my shelf:)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous cover! I haven’t read anything by Kristen Simmons, thanks for bringing this author to my attention, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance to give her books a try Ksenia, she's one of my favorites:)
DeleteI didn't enjoy Article 5 and I'm a little nervous about a potential love triangle so I think I'm going to wait and see what you make of this before adding it to my shelves. I hope it's as good as you hope, Jenny! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know my thoughts once I've read Keertana!
DeleteI am so ridiculously excited for this, Jenny though I'm with you and hopefully, it's not a triangle. She's one of my favorite authors and one of the few authors whose every book has worked well for me. I'm prepared for all the brutal feels about to come!
ReplyDeleteLovely pick, Jenny!
I need to stock up on chocolate Nick, I'm not fully prepared for all the feels. Maybe we should buddy read this one:)
DeleteOh this excites me Jenny!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very steampunkish. Sigh. I haven't been impressed with her books lately, and it doesn't look like this one will be for me.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Joy! Maybe it will surprise you:)
DeleteThis is the first I'm seeing of this one but I agree, it does look really good! I hope you love it when you get it and are able to read it.
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T WAIT ALI!!!
DeleteOh this one looks good and I'm in the mood for dystopian (ish). :D
ReplyDeleteHeh. Dystopian-ish. I wasn't quite sure how to classify it:)
DeleteI had heard about a new release from Simmons a while back, but I didn't know what it was about, but I'm liking the sound of this book Jenny. And I have adored Simmons books in the past, so I am eager to try something new from her, but I too hope that this book doesn't involve a love triangle. Great pick Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI hope the same Jasprit, but Kristen has never let me down so I have faith in her:)
DeleteI liked her other series! I'm not much for YA or love triangles, but this sounds good!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it?! I can't wait to get my hands on it:)
DeleteI just found out about this one recently and though I have yet to read anything by Simmons, her Article 5 series is on my tbr shelf. This sounds REALLY unique and super promising! I'm going to hope that no triangle develops but hey, if everything else delivers, I can handle anything ;D
ReplyDeleteYou need to read Article 5 Micheline! I adored that series:)
DeleteMe too Heidi, me too:)
