Grab Bags And Other Things Made of Win
Happy Weekend Everyone!
I just wanted to do a quick post to share some fun things with you in case you've yet to hear about them. First, HarperTeen has put together a series of EPIC grab bags they will be giving away throughout the month. Each Friday in March, one winner will receive five crushable tales from the Story Crush library, so go HERE to check out all the awesomeness.
As you will see if you decide to enter, you need to "like" Epic Reads on Facebook in order to do so. I am not on Facebook because I work from home and the blog and Twitter are big enough distractions that I cannot possibly sign up and be tempted by yet another one, but my husband has an account. And I happen to know his password. So I logged in, "liked" Epic Reads, entered to win and considered it a job well done really. Then I get a phone call from my husband. It went a bit like this:
Hubs: Did you happen to use my Facebook account today?
Me: Um. What makes you ask that?
Hubs: I keep getting updates from something called Epic Reads.
Me: Huh. I can neither confirm nor deny responsibility for that.
Hubs: I'll take that as confirmation. Why did you "like" them on my behalf?
Me: Well, I'll tell you. They have a grab bag full of amazing books and I'm going to win it.
Hubs: You're going to win it?
Me: Yes.
Hubs: So you've simply entered to win is what you're saying, "liking" them didn't actually win you anything.
Me: If you care to interpret it as such. I'm more inclined to think positively and predict an outcome more in my favor.
Hubs: How many people have entered?
Me: Several.
.....
Hundred. Maybe thousand.
Hubs: So your chances of actually winning are....
Me: Slim. To possibly none. But that's not really the point is it?
Hubs: I thought it kind of was.
Me: No. The point is I went out there on a limb and took a chance. You should encourage and support me in all my endeavors, however large or small dammit.
Hubs: Uh huh. Please stop "liking" things for me. This is my account.
Me: I make no promises.
It was a good talk I feel. I think we got some things worked out ;-) Anyway, the grab bags have some really fabulous books in them, so don't forget to check out the Epic Reads Facebook page each week to enter. And hopefully win. *crosses fingers*
Additionally, I have some very cool Lauren Oliver related items to share with you. First up is a Liesl & Po Classroom sweepstakes, all of the details of which can be found HERE.
And secondly, the fantastic Dark Days tour is continuing this weekend in Los Angeles with Lauren Oliver, Claudia Gray, and Dan Wells all in attendance. Wish I could be in LA right now. For those of you who are like me and are nowhere near sunny California, you can catch the event as it's livestreamed tomorrow (March 11th) HERE courtesy of Tiffany at About To Read.
If you just can't wait that long to hear Lauren Oliver talk about the unbelievable Delirium trilogy, you can check out her stop in Raleigh, North Carolina in a video HERE.
Phew. That was a lot of links. Enjoy all the Epic Reads fun everyone!

You're keeping me busy, Jenny! I will have to check out all those links. ;) Loved the banter between you and your hubby. :D
ReplyDelete:D Big laugh...I bet you and the hubs have a fun relationship....!!!! You crack me up....
ReplyDeleteSam - There are some quality links up there, I really enjoyed the Lauren Oliver video:)
ReplyDeleteTina - I think we do. Though I think he questions his decision to marry me sometimes ;-) I consider myself a success as a wife when he gets to that point.
Haha, I laughed so much reading this. You guys are kind of cute though. I can see that Mr. Jenny understands you very well, and was quick to suspect the correct culprit. XD
ReplyDelete— Asher
Too cool darling. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, Jenny! That convo between you and your husband is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWendy @ The Midnight Garden
"You should encourage and support me in all my endeavors, however large or small dammit." Ha ha. I loved this conversation.
ReplyDeleteAsher - We're ridiculous. It's lucky we found each other because no one else would have us:) He did ferret out the truth rather quickly. Bastard.
ReplyDeleteJuju - You're welcome!
Wendy - Happy to do it:) Except by doing so, I've decreased my chances of winning. I clearly didn't think this through...
Zahida - Honestly. Where was the loving support? Instead all I got were accusations! ;-)
Heidi - I know! He doesn't understand at all:)
Too funny! I can so relate to this. I love the non-answer you gave at first. And the closing line, "I make no promises." Thanks for all of the great links. I too am very far away from sunny California.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your husband is completely understanding! LOL. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have Facebook but only a personal account and I don't really go on it much. But most everything else I do automatically posts on there. Goodreads, pinterest, etc.
Thanks for the info about epic reads! I think I might have entered already...
I always enter these contests! Thanks for the reminder!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome you used hubs' FB account. And yes, you worked a lot out in that convo. Marriage experts claim that some problems between couples are "unsolvable" and hubs needs to learn your book addiction is one of them! :)
ReplyDeleteJenny-
ReplyDeleteYou keep me laughing all the time! Thanks for that! And the heads up on Epic Reads!!
Heather
Amy - It's important to be vague in the beginning I think. I need to figure out just how much he actually knows in order to determine the best course of action ;-)
ReplyDeleteCandace - Right? He wasn't nearly as excited about my grab bag entry as he should have been.
Savy - I'm looking forward to entering all future ones!
Jennifer - I had no choice! The books were calling to me. They wanted me to win them, and the husband had the means to help me bring that goal to fruition:)
Heather - I do try:) I live to amuse! Everyone but my husband apparently though:)
*giggles* How cute!!! And Epic Reads are just amazing - they always come up with such awesome ideas, contests and features!
ReplyDeleteLOL--you are too funny. I really never win things so I generally don't even try except I liked Epic Reads so now I'm sucked in. Damn you, bad influence!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I constantly have the EXACT same conversation!
ReplyDelete"If you don't want me to mess around with your Facebook Megan, then you should change your password."
;)
I totally had a giggle over that convo. love it. And hey chick, thanks for sharing. Will browse through them now :)
ReplyDeleteTeehee, I love your conversation with your hubby. :) Sounds like something mine would say. Thanks for the heads up about the Grab Bag! I will most definitely check it out. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Love this little conversation. I'd enter the giveaway, but I've got too much to read already...
ReplyDeleteKeep thinking positively, Jenny! Who knows, the odds may be in your favor :)
HAHAHAHA! I logged into my sisters account because I don't have a facebook, either. She gave me rules.
ReplyDeleteSister: do not post anything dirty or inappropriate.
Me: Um....Why would you even give me that rule? I don't really make a habit of posting dirty and inappropriate items on other peoples sites. Only my own.
Sister: Yes, but Hubs logged into my account the other day and did. I had to use Urban Dictionary to see what it even meant. I think I threw up in my mouth a bit. I won't even inform you.
Me: Um...Have I told you lately that your husband sucks?
Sister: *giggles* Yes, you have.
Gotta love Facebook conversations! :D
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I have SIMILAR conversations weekly... Or every other day... JUST ACCEPT EVERYTHING I DO AS BRILLIANT DAMN YOU!
LOL!! I love being a fly on your wall. :D
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband sound awesome! This convo had me chuckling a touch too loudly at work
