Holiday Readathon: Mini-Challenge + Giveaway
I'm absurdly excited today to be participating in the Holiday Readathon hosted by the fabulous Liza at WhoRuBlog, an event that will run the entire weekend with all sorts of fun challenges, giveaways–and of course reading–and then culminating in a Twitter party on Sunday evening. You can find all the details (and sign up if you want!) about the readathon as well as the full list of blogs and authors hosting mini-challenges and giveaways on Liza's blog, so be sure and pop over to take a look.
In my nearly four years of blogging this is only the second readathon I've participated in. Why, you ask? Because I get all psyched up for them, pick out the books I want to read, make a schedule to keep myself on track and then utterly fail as soon as the clock starts ticking. I don't know what happens my friends. It's just as soon as I feel that slight bit of added pressure to meet the readathon challenge (despite the fact that it's self-imposed), my attention span and my dedication run away screaming and completely abandon me, and everything just goes downhill from there. *pats self on back for being so magnificently disciplined* This is a very low-key readathon however, so I'm just going to set reasonable expectations for myself and see what happens!
Here are the books I'm hoping to get both read and reviewed this weekend:
Darkest Fear by Cate Tiernan
Jet by Jay Crownover
Rome by Jay Crownover
UPDATE: Finished Darkest Fear and review is written. I'm now 32% of the way through Rome. PROGRESS ;-)
UPDATE 2: I decided to take a little break from Rome and instead of reading Jet, I picked up Avalon by Mindee Arnett. I was in the mood for a little sci-fi :) I have now finished both Darkest Fear and Avalon and hope to make a little more progress on Rome tonight!
Okay. That's not the most ambitious stack, I know, but baby steps right? Right. In addition to participating in the readathon itself, I'm also hosting a mini-challenge. WOO HOO! It's no secret that I'm a big fan of romance in any book I read, and I think the holidays are the perfect time of year to really celebrate romance what with the chilly nights and the mistletoe and all that good stuff, so it's in that vein that I present to you my challenge (well, it's really just a fun prompt, but go with me on it):
List the top three fictional characters you wouldn't mind meeting under the mistletoe this year. Please fill out the Rafflecopter form below to make sure you're entered to win!
One lucky winner will receive the book of their choice (up to $20) from either Amazon or The Book Depository, so this giveaway is international as long as The Book Depository delivers to your country. Good luck everyone and Happy Holidays!!!
