The Gun Runner Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway

http://kismetbooktours.com/2016/06/the-gun-runner-by-scott-hildreth/

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I'm joined on the blog by author Scott Hildreth as part of the promotional tour for his newest contemporary romance, The Gun Runner. Scott was nice enough to answer a few questions for me about bad boys, relationships, and crime families, so I hope you guys enjoy the interview and add this one to your lists:)

What are three things that make Tripp a true bad boy rather than a more romanticized version of one?

Tripp’s experiences as a US Marine have left him with the belief that he is invincible. This belief, be it accurate or not, have left him fearing no one. This lack of fear allows him to push boundaries that a normal man wouldn’t come close to even approaching. Three things that I believe support his belief are:
  • When approached (and threatened) by the mafia boss, his response was “tell him to go f*ck himself”
  • When provided many opportunities to walk away from potential harm, he repeatedly chooses to walk right into the middle of it (saving a woman from being raped, ridding a movie theatre of a man who is a nuisance, saving a woman from being assaulted, defusing a live bomb…)
  • Saks Fifth Avenue dressing room sex scene.

Terra comes from a family capable of truly terrible things. What is her biggest fear regarding her family (other than that Tripp will find out who she is)?

Loss. Criminals are eventually captured. Considering the crimes her family commits, she realizes the strict penalty (should anyone be caught) would split her family apart.

If Terra could give her pre-Tripp self a few words of advice about what was in store for her in their relationship, what she say?

Regarding relationships, never keep secrets.

Looking forward to book two, what one word would both Tripp and Terra use to describe the events that unfold?

Unbelievable.

Thanks so much for stopping by Scott!

THE GUN RUNNER

Tripp

Once, I took down terrorists on the front lines as a marine.

Now I'm in the business of bad.

I've sold guns to people others might not approve of.

I've eliminated the criminals, the lowlifes and the thugs who've tread on my turf.

And I looked the Sicilian Mafia boss in the eye and told him to f*** off.

No one tells me no, unless it's their last word.

I didn't just act the part of bad—I lived it. Then she stumbled into my life.

I tried to stay away from her. Tried focusing on moving my merchandise. But one smile from Terra was like a shot to the heart.

She's mine now. And no one threatens what's mine.

Terra

I've seen a lot of terrible things in my life.

I grew up around lies and deception, and I ran away from all of them.

Until I met him.

I knew he was corrupt. I knew he was dangerous.

I should have stayed away, but my attraction to him, my need for him, overrode my logic.

Now I love him.

If he finds out who I am, we're done and I'll be nothing.

I never wanted to be the Mafia princess they tried to make me, but mia familia had other plans. And what mia familia wants…it gets.

Only Michael Tripp can save me.

The Asset Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway

http://kismetbooktours.com/2016/01/the-asset-by-anna-del-mar/

Today I'm so pleased to welcome author Anna Del Mar to the blog as part of the promotional tour for the first book in her new Wounded Warrior romance series, The Asset. Those of you who are frequent visitors to this blog know what a romance lover I am, and when you add a military hero (in this case a SEAL) to the mix I basically go into meltdown mode. Must. Read. Now. Anna was nice enough to answer a few questions for me, so I hope you guys enjoy the interview! Be sure and check the bottom of the post as well for all the details on a special giveaway:)

I’m 99% sure I would last approximately 4 minutes in Navy SEAL training before I curled up in the fetal position and started crying. How long do you estimate you’d last?

Four minutes? You’re tough, girl! I don’t think I’d make it to the sixty second mark. Plus, I’d want to talk about my challenges with my instructors. I don’t know about you, but the term Hell Week? Not very appealing to me.

What are 3 small things about The Asset's wounded warrior hero, Ash Hunter, that will surely make female readers everywhere want to pick this book up immediately?

First, Ash might be wounded, but he’s by no means out of the game. He’s got the skills, training and experience that allow him to discover Lia’s secrets. This wounded warrior is about to kick some ass.

Second, there’s a lot more to Ash than meets the eye. He has access to resources Lia could only dream of and he won’t hesitate to use them. Now, if he could only win Lia’s trust, he’d clear the path to her heart.

And third, Ash recognizes Lia as a survivor. He understands that she’s a veteran of life’s most terrifying battles and that she suffers from her own version of PTSD. Most importantly, he’s patient. He will watch. He will wait. And he’ll be there when she’s ready for him.

If Lia could ask you one question about why you wrote her and Ash’s story the way you did, what would she most want to know?

Hmm. What an interesting question. I’ve never been asked that one before. I think Lia would want to know why I started with Ash being wounded in the first place. Yeah, I think she might throw that one in my face a little, not angrily, that’s not Lia for you, but she’s very protective of Ash.

I always have a soft spot for the heroes who have physical or mental wounds they’re trying to heal, so I have little doubt I’m going to fall madly in love with Ash. Who would you say are your all-time favorite romance heroes?

I’m the exact same way. I like heroes who are brave, strong, smart and sexy, but also vulnerable. I think contrast makes for the best kinds of heroes. A hero who knows suffering is a hero who values life and love. I don’t want perfection. I want my heroes to be human, like you and I, struggling, conflicted. What better way to get to know the depth of someone’s character but to watch him or her fight their way out of their weaknesses and reclaim their strengths?

As to my all-time favorite romance heroes, that would be a long list. How about I give you one that really stuck with me over the years? One of the first romance novels I ever read was Outlander, by Dianna Gabaldon. I fell in love with Jamie Frasier on the spot. I think it was precisely because he suffered from the get-go and then came back with the sort of resiliency that made him a better person and a phenomenal hero. He made my heart melt every time. To this day, when I travel to Scotland, I look around the streets of Edinburgh, wondering if Jamie is around, time-traveling and—ehem— available.

If you were to make yourself a heroine in the Wounded Warrior series, what are a few of the traits your leading man would have?

Well, I’m definitively not one of the heroines in the Wounded Warrior series, but I can say, with a measure of confidence, that I’ve had a little say about the traits of the leading men of The Asset and the Wounded Warrior series.

My leading men are leaders, brave, strong, smart, sexy, resilient, decisive, determined, skilled. But they’re also sensitive, emphatic and compassionate, because they’ve experienced suffering and struggled with survival and recovery. They’re not big talkers. That’s just not who they are. But they’re big doers. They’re going to show you what they mean with their actions. They look at life from a different perspective. They’ve been close to death. They know what’s important. This time around, they’re going to give love all they’ve got.

Thanks so much Anna!

Hidden Impact Blog Tour: Guest Post + Giveaway

http://kismetbooktours.com/2015/10/hidden-impact-by-piper-j-drake/

I'm so pleased today to welcome author Piper J. Drake to the blog as part of the tour for her newest romantic suspense release, Hidden Impact. As you guys already know by now, I love romance. Love it. I need everything I read to have a little romance in it, but of course the success of that romance depends entirely on the hero and heroine. I decided to ask Piper to share a few of the characteristics she thought made for a successful heroine, so I hope you guys enjoy!

Piper’s Top 3 Characteristics for the Successful Heroine
Think Quick

Events can happen in a blur of action, requiring fast reaction. In my stories, a succesful heroine may only have a fraction of a second but she’s got to make that count. She’s got to be able to think quick so she doesn’t end up dead or badly injured.

Think Clearly

It doesn’t take military training to assess a situation with a clear perspective. I try to give my heroine the ability to take a look at the situation and see it for what it is, without getting too muddled even when emotions are running high and the adrenaline is flowing.

Think Ahead

To succeed, or survive, a heroine needs to think ahead to what might happen next. Having an idea of the possible utcomes and being prepared for them help her navigate some pretty crazy circumstances. Thinking ahead helps my heroine make choices, not just react.

Mostly, I like a heroine who can think on her feet. It’s not always possible, but whenever it is, she should.

Thanks so much Piper! Be sure and check the bottom of the post for all the details on a giveaway as well as a list of participating blogs:)

As part of the elite Centurion Corporation team, military-veteran-turned-mercenary Gabriel Diaz is a natural defender. He'll do anything to ensure a mission is successful. Anything but get emotionally invested—he learned the hard way that can be deadly. Easy bodyguard jobs in between the more challenging missions are all he's interested in now.

He dismisses her outright, but all that changes when she is almost killed in a not-so-accidental hit-and-run right before his eyes.

As Maylin leans on Gabriel, she begins to rely on him for more than just her safety. But as their attraction grows, so does the danger surrounding them. When the elaborate web they're trapped in unravels, Gabriel will do anything to protect them. Even if that means putting his heart in the crosshairs.

The Cobbogoth Series Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway!

http://kismetbooktours.com/2015/09/the-cobbogoth-series-by-hannah-l-clark/

Today I'm thrilled to welcome author Hannah L. Clark to the blog to answer a few questions about the first two books in her YA fantasy series, Uncovering Cobbogoth and The Lemorian Crest. Some of you might remember The Lemorian Crest from one of my flourish posts as I had the pleasure of working with Hannah on the cover, and I'm so glad to have the opportunity to feature this series on the blog once again! I hope you guys enjoy the interview, and be sure and check the bottom of the post for all the details on a fantastic giveaway:)

If Norah were to keep a journal detailing the trials and tribulations she faces in the Cobbogoth series, how would the first line read?

So it turns out my entire life has been a lie.

There’s nothing I love more than a romance that develops between two longtime friends like Norah and James. What are your top three best friend romances?

Emma Woodhouse and George Knightly
Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe
Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester

You gotta respect the classics, you know?

If Norah could ask one other YA character to help her on her adventures in this series, whose smarts or skills would she find most useful?

Hitomi from Intisar Khanani’s novella Sunbolt, beause she’s super scrappy, big-hearted, clever, streetwise, and she’s the type of loyal friend that would always have Norah’s back. Either that or Katniss Everdeen, because she’d be able to shoot down the Dogrils with her bow before they got too close.

There are so many cities that have been lost or are now in ruins that I would have loved to see in their prime. If Norah’s archaeologist uncle could take you on a tour of one such place at its peak, which place would top your list?

Atlantis or the City of Babel

If Norah could take someone from New Cobbogoth on a tour of her home city of Boston, what are the top places she’d make sure they saw?

-The Peabody Museum, because Uncle Jack’s exhibit is located there.
-Fenway Park for a Red Sox game, because James would be appauled is she didn’t.
-The North End, because it’s awesome.
-Boston Public Gardens, because it’s gorgeous.
-And Sleepy Hollow Cemetary just outside of Boston in Concord, because it’s around Halloween right now, and that cemetary is creepy.

Thanks so much for stopping by Hannah!

UNCOVERING COBBOGOTH

Norah Lukens needs to uncover the truth about the fabled lost city of Cobbogoth. After her archaeologist uncle’s murder, Norah is asked to translate his old research journal for evidence and discovers that his murder was a cover-up for something far more sinister.

When she turns to neighbor and only friend James Riley for help, she realizes that not only is their bitter-sweet past haunting her every step, but James is keeping dangerous secrets. Can Norah discover what they are before its too late to share her own.

THE LEMORIAN CREST

After being raised from infancy in Boston, Mass., Noria (a.k.a Norah Lukens) has no idea what to expect upon entering New Cobbogoth, where she never would have guessed that paths of light can make you vanish; doors can lead to realms both near and far; myths and legends are actual history; a mere kiss can seal two souls as one; and, of course, a stone is never “just a stone.” Her Uncle Jack’s stories never could have prepared her for the magical and dangerous place her native realm is turning out to be.

When the Gihara’s promises begin to crumble, her best friend and soul-mate Jamus (a.k.a. James Riley) is in more danger than ever. Then when his father Lylend abandons her to search for an ancient relic called The Lemorian Crest and she is taken captive by the very people she’s risked everything to save, Noria begins to lose faith in the Cobbogothian gods and the mission they sent her home to accomplish.

Only when a series of new friendships and loyalties are forged in the most peculiar of places, does Noria dare hope again. Hope for Jamus’ safety, for their future together, and for the survival of the entire Cobbogothian race.

HANNAH L. CLARK

Hannah L. Clark lives with her husband and two children in the Rocky Mountains. She has always known she would be a storyteller. In 2006 she graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor’s degree in English and immediately began writing her first novel.

Uncovering Cobbogoth was Clark’s first book in the seven book Cobbogoth series—a YA fantasy series based on her mythological brain-child, The Legend of the Cobbogothians. It was released in May 2014 through Cedar Fort Publishing. Book 2 in the series, The Lemorian Crest will be released in Summer 2015.

Clark loves running, mythology, singing while playing the guitar, herbal tea, escaping into imaginary worlds, and being with her peeps. Like her heroine Norah, she also kind of believes that trees might have souls, but must clarify that she has never hugged a tree. The closest she has ever come to that kind of bizarre behavior was the time she hugged the pillars outside Harry Potter Land. Which, all things considered, is not bizarre at all if one takes into account how exquisitely happy she was to finally be there.
