ASHES, ASHES
Jo Treggiari
Young Adult/Dystopian
Releases June 1st from Scholastic
From Goodreads:
A thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and one girl's unyielding courage through the darkest of nightmares.
Epidemics, floods, droughts–for sixteen-year-old Lucy, the end of the world came and went, taking 99% of the population with it. As the weather continues to rage out of control, and Sweepers clean the streets of plague victims, Lucy survives alone in the wilds of Central Park. But when she's rescued from a pack of hunting dogs by a mysterious boy named Aidan, she reluctantly realizes she can't continue on her own. She joins his band of survivors, yet, a new danger awaits her: the Sweepers are looking for her. There's something special about Lucy, and they will stop at nothing to have her.
Um, yes please! This one just seems to have a little bit of everything in it with a survival tale, a romance, and a mystery element surrounding the main protagonist, and I definitely want to know what it is that makes Lucy so special. I will be at the bookstore in June to pick this one up!
great pick! I love dystopian novels! Too bad this doesn't come out until June

This sounds really fun! It is SO going on the tbr list!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
The cover and premise reminds me of the movie, The Day After Tomorrow. Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited about this book, too! I love the cover but somehow it reminds me of the World Trade Center -- especially with the story being in New York. It looks like a promising dystopian adventure!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I haven't heard of this one until not. It sounds great!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting. However, it has no man candy on the front. Okay, I know it won't go with the dystopian thing, but with Missie's meme I'm looking for man candy here! *taps foot* ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds really dystopian, but then again, that's the trend in YA right now -- you know, I think that this one will be interesting because of the hints of the World Trade Centre like @Julie mentioned, and it feels like it'll hit home for people, all the while being a fantastic disaster novel of epic proportions; great pick, Jenny!
