Read-a-Thon Challenge

UPDATE AND CHALLENGE:
So, I haven't been quite as productive as I'd hoped. As it stands, I've finished both Mockingjay and Nightshade, so I'm somewhere in the vicinity of 850 pages read. I should be able to get through one more book before the event is over though. Now, for my challenge!

Pick your perfect couple
If you could choose two characters from any two novels, who would you pick as your ideal couple and why? Note: these should be couples that are not already together in their current stories, but rather characters from different novels that you think might be cute together if it were possible!

Here's a few of the couples I would choose:
1. Jace from The Mortal Instruments series and Bryn from Raised by Wolves. I of course enjoyed Jace with Clary, but I was really impressed with Bryn's strength and her ability to adapt to new situations. Clary could be a bit of a pushover at times, and I think Bryn's call-it-like-I-see-it attitude would be a good fit for Jace's alpha personality.

2. Adrian from the Vampire Academy series and Sophie from Hex Hall. This may stem in part from my unwavering loyalty to Dimitri who is my ultimate choice for Rose, but I also really like Adrian and want to see him happy. If possible, I think Sophie would be a good fit since they both are struggling with a magic they don't really understand while an outside threat forces them to jump into their powers head-first.

3. Spade from First Drop of Crimson and Callia from Entwined. I enjoy all of Jeaniene Frost's vampires, and Spade was no exception. I did not, however, love Denise as much as I had hoped. She could be a little whiny at times and often ran off to try to figure things out herself which ended up causing more problems than it solved. Callia is more level-headed and I think would be a fun romantic partner for Spade.

To enter the challenge, just leave a comment with your new pairing, but be sure and leave the name of the book as well so we all know exactly to whom you're referring. Please make sure to leave an email address as well if it's not in your profile so I can contact you. The challenge will run through the end of the Read-a-Thon which is Monday morning. One winner will be chosen and will receive a copy of Infinite Days, one of my favorite reads so far this year! Giveaway is open to US residents only.

From Barnes & Noble

"Throughout all my histories, I found no one I loved more than you...no one."

Those were some of Rhode's last words to me. The last time he would pronounce his love. The last time I would see his face.

It was the first time in 592 years I could take a breath. Lay in the sun. Taste.

Rhode sacrificed himself so I, Lenah Beaudonte, could be human again. So I could stop the blood lust.

I never expected to fall in love with someone else that wasn't Rhode.

But Justin was...daring. Exciting. More beautiful than I could dream.

I never expected to be sixteen again...then again, I never expected my past to come back and haunt me...

I can't wait to see what couples all of you choose!

  2. Awesome post!! I totally would die of laughter of we could pair Nix from Immortals After Dark series with Ian from the Night Huntress series!! Mostly cuz I'd love to see her drive him batshit insane :P

  3. Tori - It took me a while to figure some out, it's hard to picture them outside of their stories!

Pam - That would be hilarious! I think we should write Jeaniene and suggest she and Kresley Cole team up for that one:)

  4. Ooh, this is hard...erm, maybe Mercy Thompson and Derek from the Kate Daniels series. That's not very good, I like Mercy with Adam.

I know, Jo and Laurie from Little Women, non of that Amy crap! I know they're not from different books, but I always wanted them together. :)

  5. Scarlet O'Hara from Gone with the Wind with Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries. And the book would be called Gone with the Vampires...

  7. Jennifer - I like Mercy with Adam too:) And I agree with you on Little Women even though they're in the same book;)

Angelique - You are hilarious, I would definitely read a book called Gone with the Vampires:)

  8. This is really, really hard.

Shane Collins from the Morganville vampire series and me. Wait, I can't do that? Oh, well then....

Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter and Valentine from The Mortal Instruments (only read until City of Ashes so far, so shhhh) series. They would be ideal because I despise both of them and hopefully one of them would kill the other off ;)

  9. I love Vampire and Tofu's Scarlett O'Hara and Damon Salvatore!!!! I would have never, ever thought of that one!!!!! I think the world might explode if those two ever got together --- the book characters OR the movie/TV characters.

As for who I would pair, that is difficult. There are many characters who I love. Shiloh from the Cheney Duvall, MD series is my favorite guy. I think that he would be great coupled with Sarah from Redeeming Love. The two of them do a lot of struggling and could really help each other out.

  10. Cassel from white cat and Sookie from Southern vamp series. She attracts everything else why not him :)

  11. I am going to say Blanche Ingram from "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte and Mr. Collins from "Pride & Prejudice" by Jane Austen...they both have the most annoying personalities and are only after money and social prestige...may they live together in simpering bliss forever! =)

  12. This is really hard trying to pair up the best couple but I think....

Gemma Doyle from the Gemma Doyle Series and Peeta from The Hunger Games....

If you read Libba Brays GD books then you know Gemma is a strong gal to lean on and with all Peetas limping I think they would do swell together at least that is until the end of Gemmas series........

    Great Challenge

  13. I'm going to go with classics here...two of my favorite books. Jane from Jane Eyre and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. You're probably asking why I would wish Heathcliff on poor Jane? Well, everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I adore Heathcliff. I think he is one of the most misunderstood and maligned romantic heroes in literature. I think that Jane would be good for him. Remember the effect she had on Rochester? I think she would calm Heathcliff's brooding ways and Heathcliff would introduce a little wildness to Jane's plain self.

    Thanks for this great challenge!

  14. Hm. I'm going with two books by the same author, but I'd love to see Mary-Lynette from LJ Smith's Night World: Daughters of Darness go on a date with Julian from Forbidden Game. She's got the balls to kick his ass into line, and I think he'd appreciate that. Eventually.

lol that was harder than I thought it'd be.

  15. Hmmm...Scarlett from Sister Red and Dmitri from Vampire Academy. Scarlett is so much like Rose in VA that I can see her having similar taste in guys.

  16. This is crossing genres but I'd take Gale from the Hunger Games and pair him with Bitterblue from the Graceling Series. She could use a strong warrior to help her fight and protect her newly inherited kingdom and they have both survived tragedies so they would understand one another :)

  17. I think I would like for Jacinda from Firelight to end up with Ren from Nightshade. Although they are two different paranormals they would so challenge each other. It may sound odd but still interesting!!!!

  18. Kayla + Cyna - I haven't read Daughters of Darkness, but I always felt so bad for Julian, it would be nice for him to have love and not, you know, stick people in creepy games.

  22. Wow! Cool challenge. I would choose Brooke from Hold Me Closer Necromancer and Jace from TMI series. I think that would be an interesting mix. I think she could give him a run for his money!

  23. Hehe I like your pairings :) Hmm I think I'm gonna have to stare at book covers on goodreads.

This is random, but I really like Church from The Mortal Instruments series with Nala from The House of Night series. They're both cats, and they're both pretty cool.
I really want to use someone from Demon's Lexicon and Wicked Lovely series... Not sure who yet. Hmm... Donia and Nick? I'm not sure if that would go well or if they whole world would explode.
