Waiting on Wednesday: In Dreams

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

Erica Orloff
Paranormal Young Adult
Releases from Speak/Penguin on January 9th, 2014

From Goodreads:
In the land of nightmares, she finds the man of her dreams...
He haunts her in her dreams.
She is always searching, looking for the man who calls her from afar, a disembodied voice who knows everything about her.
But when she discovers the unimaginable secret her family has hidden for so long, her dreams—and her nightmares—invade her reality.
Her true love beckons, but the terrors await her. . . . Can she find him in time, or will their love—and her life—be destroyed?

Sixteen-year-old Iris has a recurring dream a long corridor of many doors, and behind each door a hidden world—some magical, some terrifying. But always she is searching for the man who calls to her—the man of her dreams—who knows everything about her, who stirs feelings in her she’s never felt before. When she discovers her father is actually the god of dreams, her nightmares and dreams follow her into reality, with both frightening and romantic results. Hunted by the god of nightmares, stalked by the horrifying creatures of the underworld, Iris must try to navigate both her worlds, as she tries to finally be with Sebastian, the man of her dreams. Can she triumph over the dangers that have haunted her forever, and be with Sebastian, or will terrors ultimately destroy them both?

You guys know I'm a sucker for a good YA romance and I tend to choose the books I want to read based on whether or not they have a romance in them, so In Dreams automatically checks one of my required boxes just by mentioning "the man of her dreams". Add in a dark and terrifying underworld and the god of nightmares and this one becomes a must read for me!

  2. Sounds good! It sounds *slightly* similar to a book I'm doing the tour for actually. I'm sure they are different, but it just reminds me of it a bit.

  3. OoOOO!!!!!!! that sounds fabulous Jenny!! And I haven't seen this one before!

One thing that totally bugs me though, is the guy in the cover. This image is a stock image which is been so overused that I'm tired of his face. So I was actually surprised seeing that this book is from Penguin....

  9. Ever since Inception I've always found dreams fascinating. While it seems like the romance may take on a cliche route, the book seems very promising overall. Thanks for putting this on my radar, Jenny! :)

  10. I haven't read a good YA paranormal in TOO long. I swear. This, however, sounds like it could be the perfect thing to suck me back into the genre...plus, romance?! Sold. Yay! Fantastic pick this week! :)

  13. Aha, you've found one I haven't heard of yet! Adding it to my tbr now, thanks. While I'm not as super into romance as you are, I think I could still appreciate this one. I mean, because how cool does it sound?! A god of nightmares? Horrifying underworld creatures? Actually, this sounds kind of freaky!

  14. This cover is just not my favorite. Get rid of the floating boy head and maybe. However, the story more than makes up for it! I've had that stress dream of walking down a corridor with locked doors -- I don't know if it's a good thing that it's now a book!

  15. I always love a little bit of romance in my books too, so this one is appealing to me already. I have to agree with Mary about the cover though! It makes it look like a very cliched paranormal romance. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks of this. Great pick, Jenny! :)

I'm not a huge fan of the cover though! I wouldn't have picked it up just by looking at the cover!
    Thanks for sharing, Jenny! :)

  17. I like my books spiced with a little romance as well so we're a lot alike:) It sounds good, too!! Hey, is that the guy from Jus Accardo's series? He looks so familiar, but I don't know where. I think I got it with JA's Touch though ;)

  23. I'm glad I found you (or you found me), because I'm a sucker for a good romance too! Bring it on. I haven't read a lot of dream mythology, so this one sounds pretty fascinating. Although I will admit that the disembodied head on the cover is a little too much for me. I'm now excited about this one!
