Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series was my first paranormal romance series, so it and its spinoffs will always have a very special place in my heart and on my shelf. While Bones will always come first in terms of book boyfriends, Vlad is a very, very close second, and I can't wait to see how this final installment unfolds!

I really enjoyed Sara's Defy series, so this one can't release soon enough for me. The heroine of the Defy series was as strong as they come, and it sounds like Evelayn with her magic and her ability to shapeshift is going to be badass in her own right, something that always makes me happy. I'm wondering if she's a swan shifter based on that crown, and if she is, that's not a shifter I've read about before so consider me intrigued. It's possible the swan is more symbolic than literal though, and while now I can't stop hoping for a swan shifter, I'm still counting the days until this book makes its way into my grabby hands!

This feels a little bit like the movie The Village, and that in and of itself makes it intriguing. Any society that has strict rules like this fascinates me because I want nothing more than to ask why those rules are in place find out what happens if one of them is broken. Curiosity killed the cat and all that ;-) It sounds like Alys might buck the rigid system of her village a bit, and I know I'll be right there with her trying to figure out what's going on with the soul eaters and the Beast. Also, the title has me asking a rather obvious question: Is the Beast an animal? Or something else? I NEED TO KNOW!

Kasie West! Her contemporary books always make me smile, and the setup for this one has me especially excited. Sort of a mini Breakfast Club-style feel. I love a relationship that starts with a whole lot of antagonism before turning into something more, and it seems like Autumn and Dax are going to have to wade through quite a few differences before that surprising connection forms, which means this has earned itself a place at the top of my must-have 2017 list:)

First, I really, really don't want to live in this world. I would one hundred percent be randomly killed for population control purposes, I know it. Second, while pitting two young people against one another in an epic battle to the death is not a new plotline, it's one that never fails to grab my attention and hold it. I can't help but want to know what happens (sidenote: I'll definitely be reading the end first)! The synopsis doesn't give us very much information about either Citra or Rowan, so I have no idea if I'll be rooting for one over the other or both:)

Beauty and the Beast is my all-time favorite fairy tale, so whenever a retelling pops up it takes absolutely no convincing to get me to add it to my must-have list. I'm also a huge fan of Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman's Starbound trilogy, so I'm hoping this one blows me away in much the same way. Curses, ruined castles, and a beauty vs. beast plotline? YES PLEASE!

MERCY AND ADAM! There will never be a time I'm not absurdly excited for a new installment in this series, as Mercy is one of my all time favorite heroines. I'm a little bummed because it sounds like she and Adam are going to be separated for most of the book and their interactions are one of the higlights of this series for me, but Mercy is more than strong enough to carry a book on her own and I'm looking forward to seeing her take Europe (and these ancient powers) by storm:)

A female gladiator? YES AND PLEASE! While the type on this cover is a little underwhelming, especially when compared to the general badassery of the girl showing Rome what's what from the floor of the arena, as soon as I saw this I wanted to know more about her. Gladiator is one of my favorite movies (ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!) (don't judge me), so I'm already obsessing over Fallon and the things that await her in the pit. I'm so intrigued by her I almost don't even care about the enemies-to-lovers romance with Cai. Almost. Okay, the romance of course is right up my alley, but I need it to be February so Fallon can show how epic a gladiator she can be!

You guys. LOOK AT THAT COVER! It's gorgeous. A glorious, creepified version of The Neverending Story ouroboros, and it makes my little designer (and reader) heart happy. If the cover wasn't enough to sell me on this one (sidenote: it was), the synopsis sealed the deal with all its talk of magical artifacts, time travel and secret societies. Tessa sounds like she has an epic adventure ahead of her and I want in!

SIMON AND MEG YOU GUYS! They have fast become one of my favorite almost-couples, and I'm hoping this is the book where we finally get to see them together. *rubs hands together in gleeful anticipation* I have to admit that I don't love the sound of Montgomery's shady brother, he's clearly going to cause all sorts of problems, but the Others always handle their business so I know he'll get what's coming to him. Also? That last line terrifies me. I don't want to lose any of my beloved Others! *sobs just thinking about it*

First, pretty cover is pretty. I have no idea what the futuristic tentacle-like wires of smoke and magic are at the bottom, but they intrigue me, as does the castle in a bottle. Story-wise, I love that Freya had absolutely no illusions that she would sit on the throne given there were 22 people in line before her, so I feel like she'll be a true underdog in the viper's pit that is court politics. There's nothing I like more than rooting for an underdog (except of course romance – hello, there king's dashing and enigmatic illegitmate son!), so I'm starting my countdown for this one already. Please come faster February!

I'm a HUGE fan of Sherry Thomas, whether she's writing historical romance or YA fantasy, so as soon as this one popped up on Goodreads I immediately started obsessing over it. I'm always up for a Sherlock-style story, and the fact that this one features a female social pariah whose demonstrating a little sleuthing badassery makes it all the more appealing. I have a feeling she's going to match wits with this unseen mastermind like no one's matched wits before ;-) Can't wait for October!

Normally when the synopsis for a YA book starts with a line about kissing dozens of boys, I'd be moving right on by as it sounds like a recipe for high angst and romantic drama, BUT, the second sentence above is a game changer. Executing men via kissing sounds miserable indeed, and I'm now infinitely curious about Marinda and how she's going to change her world. Though this sounds like a fairly straightforward YA fantasy with romantic elements at first glance, the Indian folklore aspect is really intriguing and not something I've read much about, so this is on my list for sure!

This cover makes me wish I could wander around in a gorgeous dress with parasol/fancy umbrella and not get the side-eye from all those I passed in the grocery store. *shakes fist at modern times* The pretty cover of course caught my eye and made me take a closer look at the synopsis, and once I did, I immediately added this to my list. I want to know what's going on with Janie/Violet. Is she an unreliable character? Or is she telling the truth? Or something in between? I NEED MORE INFORMATION! Also, I'm always rooting for a woman making her way in a male-dominated field. Show 'em what you're made of Alice!

I'm going to be honest here: I didn't even read the synopsis of this book before I made it into my WoW post for this week. I saw that gorgeous cover and my body involuntary made grabby hands. It's. So. PRETTY. I could ramble on about all the things that work for me with this cover, but I won't bore you with those details. Just know I hate the designer who did this a tiny bit because I want their talent for my very own. *stares at cover dreamily*

I read Rin Chupeco's The Girl from the Well last year and really enjoyed it, so I'm excited to dive into this one as well. Necromancy is typically something I avoid in the world of paranormal fiction (zombies freak me out), but I like the sound of Tea and the combination of necromancy and elemental magic. Also, this releases on my birthday next year, so I feel like it's meant to be!

You guys already know how much I love YA fantasy, so desperately wanting this one is pretty much a given. I really like how this has a paranormal gladiator-type quality to it, I'm always a sucker for stories that pit one supernatural gift against another. It makes me think long and hard about which gift I would want if I lived in that world. Right now I'm leaning toward ice because I feel like I would do less damage day to day with that ability, but I'd still be plenty badass when necessary. Definitely looking forward to seeing how Ruby handles her fire though!

Next week is BookExpo America, an event I look forward to each and every year. This year it's moving to Chicago which I'm excited about because the hotel and convention center are connected (WIN!!!!) and I don't have to walk 11 blocks with a rolling suitcase full of books. I know, I know, first world problems and woe is me ;-) But you guys, it's a long walk and I'm lazy. Too lazy to be walking 11 NYC blocks twice a day. *starts sweating just thinking about it*

There are about 10 books I'm hugely excited for this year, but the above three are the ones I'm absolutely desperate to get my hands on. As you can see, I have a YA fantasy-themed BEA wishlist. I can't help it. YA fantasy just makes me happy, and if I manage to get in line early enough to get copies of these, I will simply wander the booths the rest of the day petting them and calling them My Preciousssss.
