Giveaway: Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

I'm super excited today to be able to host a giveaway for one of my most anticipated reads of the year (well, technically of next year since it comes out January 5th, but I feel like I've been waiting forever for this one!), Passenger. LOOK AT THAT COVER! This went on my must-have list solely for the cover at first, but then I actually tore my eyes away long enough to read the synopsis and a full-scale epic obsession began. What's it about you ask? It's about all things AWESOME:

In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles, but years from home. And she's inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she's never heard of. Until now.

Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods–a powerful family in the Colonies–and the servitude he's known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can't escape and the family that won't let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, his passenger, can find. In order to protect her, Nick must ensure she brings it back to them–whether she wants to or not.

Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods' grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home... forever.

  2. I haven't read Bracken's books, but this one might be a good one to start with. I've seen the cover - so pretty! - of this one around but didn't really read the synopsis until now ... I guess I'll be adding another book to my never shrinking wishlist. Lol, thanks a lot, Jenny!

  3. Haven't read Bracken's books either but soooo want to read this one!

Hmm...I don't know where I would want to go. Maybe during the Renaissance time when Michelangelo was just painting the Sistine Chapel?

  7. I am reading it right now and it's the uncorrected (and later rather modified) BEA ARC and loving it, so I cannot wait to read the finished copy and see how much more awesome it is!

  8. You are right a smashing cover, and the story line sounds great too. I can't resist a good time travel. I would go to the Civil War Era and then to WWII and then check in on my parents in the 1960s

  10. The cover of this book is absolutely stunning isn't it?! The reason I was drawn to this book was because I adored Brightly Woven by the author and I love me a good ole time travel romance!

If I got the chance to time travel... I would go back in time and hang out with Madeleine L'Engle and/or Laura Ingalls Wilders. Both of these amazing women shaped so much of middle grade years. I also have questions of Madeleine... that I would like ANSWERED thank you very much *flips hair*

I am such a book nerd....

Thank you so much for this giveaway, Jenny!! :)

If I could time travel I'm not sure I could ever decide when/where to go! I LOVE the middle ages but at the same time I think I'd be pretty terrified to visit that period in time.

  30. I am not sure how I feel about this book. The writing is wonderful and the story is unique but it is missing something. I was intrigued in the beginning and was excited to read this story. Somewhere in the middle, I started to lose interest. I cannot pinpoint where the story went flat but it did. I admit that I skipped portions of the book to see if it picked up.
I really enjoy her writing and I will read the next book to see where the story goes but, for me, there was something missing in this story.
