Waiting on Wednesday: Sophie Jordan Edition

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine and is a fun way to see what books other bloggers just can't wait to get their hands on!

This week I've decided to do a double feature, as author Sophie Jordan has both a fantastic-sounding Young Adult book and a sexy-sounding New Adult book releasing in the next several months, and I simply couldn't choose one over the other to post. I need both books immediately!

Uninvited #1
Sophie Jordan
Paranormal Young Adult
Releases January 28th from HarperTeen

From Goodreads:

You can’t change your DNA…even when it says you’re a murderer.

When Davy tests positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome, aka “the kill gene,” she loses everything. Once the perfect high school senior, she is uninvited from her prep school and abandoned by her friends and boyfriend. Even her parents are now afraid of her—although she’s never hurt a fly. Davy doesn’t feel any differently, but genes don’t lie. One day she will kill someone.

Without any say in the matter, Davy is thrown into a special class for HTS carriers. She has no doubt the predictions are right about them, especially Sean, who already bears the “H” tattoo as proof of his violence. Yet when the world turns on the carriers, Sean is the only one she can trust. Maybe he’s not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The Ivy Chronicles #1
Sophie Jordan
Contemporary New Adult
Releases November 5th from HarperCollins/William Morrow

From Goodreads:

Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

I'm absurdly excited for both of these, I'm a big fan of Sophie's YA Firelight series so Uninvited (how cool are the strands of DNA in her hair on that cover!) is one I simply cannot miss, and though the New Adult genre and I are currently on the outs, I have no doubt Foreplay will have me obsessing over this genre once again!

  1. I actually haven't read anything by Sophie Jordan yet, sadly, but her upcoming books sound so good! I love the idea of DNA and a murder mystery for Uninvited, and Foreplay sounds like a good NA I would like. I love your picks this week, Jenny!

  5. I had no idea Sophie Jordan had so many new books out soon! I didn't finish her debut trilogy because of the love triangle, but I did enjoy her writing style. Onto the TBR these go!(:

  7. I only read Firelight and wasn't too crazy about it so maybe one of these books will be better. I'm liking the sound of Uninvited over Foreplay but I'm hoping this Homicidal Tendency Syndrome is defined a bit differently in the book otherwise I know I'm going to have scientific issues.

    1. I fail at science, so any aspects that are incorrect or not plausible will be lost on me completely. I think I'm good with that though:)

  8. I just love, love, love the cover for Uninvited. Notice how the covers are the very first thing I notice? Oops...cover whore, party of one. But seriously, I'm so excited to read more from Sophie. Thanks for sharing, Jenny! Great picks :)

    1. Hahaha nor mine! Silky and smooth my hair is not. I've always wanted to be that kind of honey blonde or strawberry blonde. *sigh* Grass is always greener I guess ;-)

  11. I haven't had the best luck with Sophie Jordan's books but both of these sound really good. It also helps that they have stunning covers!
I hadn't heard of the 2nd one, so thanks for sharing, Jenny! :)

    1. You're welcome Nick. I'm excited for Foreplay. That sounds inappropriate to share out of the context of this post, but you know what I mean:) It sounds a bit like True by Erin McCarthy and I adored that one, so I have high hopes for Sophie's NA!

  12. These are both brilliant picks Jenny, I can already see myself getting a copy of Foreplay as soon as it's out. Thank you for putting both of these books on my radar! :)

  13. Uninvited sounds AMAZING (this is the second time I've typed "amazong" I think this might need to be a new word.). The NA sounds interesting, too.

  14. Both of these sound awesome! I am adding these to my TBR list immediately. I really liked Sophie Jordan's Firelight series. I had no idea she had two new series coming out....such a prolific writer! Great picks this week, Jenny!

  15. The uninvited sounds exciting! Thanks for the intro! That's a unique idea to have the ability to predict murderers base on their DNA.

  16. Love this author. I'm so excited to see what she had to offer in her NA series.

  17. Oh I think I want to read that first one, but I think I'll wait to see what you think about the NA book. I have been leery, but at the same time enjoyed what I have read in NA.

  18. The strands of DNA in her hair rock - very smart and subtle!

    Great choices :)

  19. I've only read Sophie's Firelight books, but I love them! I was already super excited to pick up Uninvited (love the cover!), but now I'm adding Foreplay to my list too. I'm back and forth on NA lately, but this does sound fun, and I like the way she writes romance. :-) Great picks!

  20. Excited for both of these as I also really enjoyed Firelight. I agree with Lauren -- I'm not 100% fan of NA, but since Sophie has written adult historical romances, I'm thinking she can write a good NA :)

  21. I haven't read anything by this author, but clearly that was a mistake. These sound GREAT. Also, that girl on the cover of UNINVITED has fantastic hair!!

  22. How did you manage to come up with not just one read for me to lust and long for, but two?!! Darn it, Jenny. Now I'm going to have to hunt these down and BEG!! I loved Sophie Jordan's Firelight series as well. I still need to read the last one, though! :)

  23. Interesting. I feel bad for that first gal already.

  24. I missed the strands of DNA in her hair. The Uninvited sounds so awesome!

I am always on the outs with New Adult. Either it's categorized New Adult incorrectly or it's just- ugh. Here's hoping Sophie Jordan knows what she's doing!

  25. Ohhh Uninvited sounds really interesting. I'm not totally sold on the idea of it yet, but if the author pulls it off right I think it'll be really good. Thanks for putting it on my radar! Totally adding it to my TBR list now. :D
