32 Seconds Blog Tour: Guest Post + Giveaway

http://www.kismetbt.com/32-seconds-by-johanna-k-pitcairn/

Today I'm thrilled to welcome author Johanna Pitcairn to the blog to talk a little bit about her latest release, 32 Seconds. I had such a blast working with Johanna on this cover so I'm hugely excited to finally see it out there in the world, and I hope Johanna's post piques your interest in this story and you all add it to your lists. Be sure and check the bottom of the post as well for all the details on a chance to win!

If you had just $75 and a full tank of gas as protagonist Julie does, what would you do/where would you go?

Hi, and thank you for having me! If I had $75 left in my wallet, no money accessible on the bank account, and one full tank of gas, I’d be pretty pissed off. LOL

If my only option was to run away, I wouldn’t make it very far. Julie Jones lives in California, and her escape plan takes her east, toward Nevada. I live in New Jersey, so my escape plan would probably be north, toward upstate New York. I’d try to drive to a small town, where I know life is cheaper, and I’d make the best of my $75 as I could.

I’d probably look for a job in the nearby grocery store, or restaurant. But this is me thinking practically and like an adult.

If I were seventeen, like Julie, I’d just drive until my tank ran dry, and I’d spend my $75 on unnecessary stuff. I’d probably steal small things, and try to find some generous soul to help me out with food. I’d go to the nearest church even if I’m not religious. I’d be very manipulative, and opportunistic in order to survive one more day.

The third option would be to drive straight to a trusted friend, and ask them to help me out.

Whatever the case, I wouldn’t go very far. It’s hard to get off the grid without any preparation!

But Julie makes it out alive and in one piece. Because material necessities don’t really matter that much where she’s headed.

I hope you enjoy 32 Seconds!

32 SECONDS

To the average onlooker, the city of Los Angeles represents glitz, glamour, and the celebrity lifestyle. But to seventeen-year-old Julie Jones, the city is a vast host of problems she’s longing to get away from. The latest? An unfortunate disagreement with her ex-boyfriend Mark—one that could land her in some serious hot water.

So rather than face the troubles that torment her, Julie decides to run away from her old life and start fresh somewhere new. But her parents aren’t on board with the plan, and she soon finds her bank accounts frozen and her wallet empty.

With just seventy-five dollars and a full tank of gas, the troubled teen is far too stubborn to turn around and head home. So what’s a girl to do?

What Julie doesn’t know is that her travels are about to take her somewhere unexpected—a place where she’ll be forced to come face to face with the ghosts of her past in order to secure her future.

A tale of redemption, hope, and freedom lost and found, 32 Seconds is a thought-provoking exploration into the human spirit and the nature of forgiveness.

32 Seconds will be FREE on Amazon from June 15th to 19th, so be sure and mark your calendars!

JOHANNA PITCAIRN

Johanna K. Pitcairn has dreamed of becoming a writer since childhood--authoring her first novel at the age of nine, and countless poems, stories, and screenplays by the age of seventeen. Later, rather than pursuing a career as a director and screenwriter, she decided to go to law school, driven by her father's opinion that "writing does not pay the bills."

Ten years later, she moved to New York City, which inspired her to go back to the excitement, wonder, and constant change of being a writer. Pitcairn is a huge fan of psychological-thriller novels and movies, and delves into her hopes, fears, friends, enemies, and everything in between in her own writing.

  1. This sounds super intriguing for sure! I'm not sure I'd be able to do much with a full tank and $75 myself...

  2. Great guest post! I agree, a small town would have to be it for me as well.
Beautiful cover on this! Thanks so much for sharing it!!

  3. I can be thrifty when I have to so hopefully that would come in handy. Great concept and another beautiful cover Jenny. It adds a bit of anticipation that I am sure is in the story

  4. Such a wonderful story! And, now that I've had the chance to read 32 Seconds, Johanna's last line makes perfect sense!

"But Julie makes it out alive and in one piece. Because material necessities don’t really matter that much where she’s headed." Nope, money will not help her there.

Beautiful cover, Jenny! I could stare at it all day :)

  6. Wow, sounds like an interesting read! I might take a day trip to Phoenix with $75 and a full tank of gas. :)

  9. Oh you have me curious Jenny and I love the cover

  10. Hmm, driving to a friend's house sounds like the smartest idea to me, though I'd probably end up doing something mildly dumb as well. The panic!

  11. I'm not sure what I would do. I suppose it depends on a few factors but it would be easier to survive in the city, I suppose. You can scavenge or beg on the corner, lol. But another thing I would consider is just buying food with the money and going into the mountains. It would take at least $20 in gas to get up there though and then the remaining for food wouldn't really be a lot.

  12. Okay, first of all, the cover is just stunning. I have no words. You know I'm a cover slut, basically, so there's simply no way for me not to read this. I actually went and marked my calendar, quite literally, and I just can't wait.

I admire people who could get by with 75$ and a tank of gas, but while I know how to save my resources, once they're gone, I'm the least resourceful and manipulative person you'll ever meet. So I'd just sit and cry, probably. :))

  13. Another gorgeous cover, Jenny. Very impressive :) I'll definitely mark my calendar for this, it sounds promising.

  14. I'd probably drive to a park or something...I start out with such grand plans and they usually devolve, as I don't know where to go. *sigh* I really like the cover!

  15. I don't make plans for the very reason because they all fall apart at the last second. Going to a trusted friend is the smartest idea, perhaps they could lend me more cash since $75 is not a whole lot. Gorgeous cover, Jenny!

  16. Oh I need to read this. I wanna know what she does! :) I'd probably have some grand delusion on how far $75 will take me but will make it last as long as possible.

  17. Omg, I need to read this. I dreamed of doing this when I was 16/17 and find some ranch to work on. lol.

  18. Wow that is a tough situation! I would probably try to be as practical as possible like Johanna, but that's adult me talking. :) As a scared teen I'm sure I'd behave differently. This sounds like an intriguing story - I'm curious to find out what Julie does. Thanks for sharing!

  19. I'd probably drive as far as I could to Austin. I doubt I'd make it on one tank of gas though, lol. I'd probably buy some junk food with my $75. And look for a job, even if it's just baby-sitting or something. That's a tough question to answer!
