Alexandra Monir
Paranormal Young Adult
Available December 9th from Delacorte Press
From Goodreads:
Mysterious. Magnificent. Creepy. Welcome to Rockford Manor.
"There's something hidden in the Maze." Seventeen-year-old Imogen has never forgotten the last words her father said to her seven years ago, before the blazing fire that consumed him, her mother, and the gardens of her family's English country manor.
Haunted by her parents' deaths, Imogen moves to New York City with her new guardians. But when a letter arrives with the news of her cousin's untimely death, revealing that Imogen is now the only heir left to run the estate, she returns to England and warily accepts her role as duchess.
All is not as it seems at Rockford, and Imogen quickly learns that dark secrets lurk behind the mansion's aristocratic exterior, hinting that the spate of deaths in her family were no accident. And at the center of the mystery is Imogen herself–and Sebastian, the childhood friend she has secretly loved for years. Just what has Imogen walked into?
Combining a fresh twist on the classic REBECCA with a spine-tingling mystery and powerful romance, SUSPICION is an action-packed thrill ride.
Well hello there, pretty cover! I won't lie, more often than not a gorgeous cover is enough to completely sell me on a book, no reading of the synopsis required. When I do eventually make it to the blurb (after the book has been on my TBR list for a while), it's always exciting to find a premise that feels as promising as the artwork is stunning. I have a thing for stories set in other countries, so color me excited for this eerie English estate with a purple hedge maze (I have no idea if the maze in the book is actually purple or if a little creative license was taken with the cover, but in my head while reading the maze will always be awesomely purple). Plus, anyone who reads this blog knows how much I love romance, so a secret longtime childhood love is basically icing on the cake. *makes grabby hands*
Oh wow. That cover! Is she a new author? The name sounds familiar but I can't place it.
ReplyDeleteNo, she's written another YA series as well, the first book is Timeless:) I haven't read anything by her yet, but I couldn't be more excited for this one:)
DeleteYES Jenny! I just saw this one the other day on Goodreads and so want to read it!!
ReplyDelete*high five* Can't wait Ali!
DeleteSo that sounds fantastic! I'm not entirely sure about the time it's set, if it's set in our time line, I am even more excited!! But other than this, the cover is so so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it gorgeous? One of my favorite covers of the year for sure:) I need this book in my hands!

ReplyDeleteWOO HOO! Me too. I can't wait:)
DeleteI am dying to read this one too. I love the sound of it and the cover is pretty great, too! I read Monir's first book and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I am excited to check this one out. Great pick, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Timeless, I heard good things. Glad to know you were a fan Christina!
DeleteI wasn't a huge fan of Monir's debut series which I felt fell into far too many classic tropes, so I'm not sure I'll be picking this up though I looooove the cover. I hope you have better luck with this author than I did, Jenny! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the cover is amazing, I'm madly in love with it Keertana!
DeleteWow. I actually haven't heard of this one yet! It sounds amazing though! First off, I'm a huge fan of historical fiction. Second, a mysterious maze? Sounds good to me! Great pick! Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
ReplyDeleteAll the best ♥︎

ReplyDeleteI'm very excited about this too, Jenny! There's just so much awesomeness going on in that blurb and that purple hedge maze. Also, yes to romance, especially childhood best friend kind of romance! :)

ReplyDeleteRIGHT?! I featured this one as my WoW pick a few weeks back too! I'm a sucker for stories featuring mazes, stories set in England, historicals and mysteries so this one is definitely at the top of my wishlist!! I sure hope the maze is purple like it is on that GORGEOUS cover too ♥ Fantastic pick Jenny ^^ hopefully we can both get our hands on this one soon :D
ReplyDeleteMicheline @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews
Oh nice! I so want to read this one now. *grabby hands* from me too! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm SOLD! Definitely need/want this one! I read her other series (well the first one, still need to read #2) and really liked it.
ReplyDeleteThe cover is gorgeous and a mystery, English estate and romance make this sound like my type of read. Unfortunately I read a book by this author and it didn't click with me. I'll wait and see what you think, Jenny. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about this one as well! In fact, I featured it as one of the books I'm waiting on (along with five others) this week!
ReplyDeleteYes, to all the things you said!! I hope it is purple!! I'm with you on the romance.
ReplyDeleteHee, it's funny because I do exactly the same thing. Mostly decide whether I will read a book based off the cover and then eventually I'll get around to reading the actual blurb and become even more interested in it! And then I wait for reviews to see if it is indeed something I should be investing my time in. I do hope Suspicion is one of them because I am definitely taken with the cover and summary!!
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely a gorgeous cover! I am also totally drawn in by lovely cover artwork and I have to hope the synopsis will do it justice. This sounds like a cool story and I have my fingers crossed that there is indeed a purple hedge maze. :-)
ReplyDeleteWOW. That cover is GORGEOUS. I love REBECCA and am totally sold on this. Sign me up!
